I am a sucker for newborns, but what gets my heart even more is when my newborns come back to me for their milestone sessions. I have been super blessed with a great number of photographer friends locally in the Colorado Springs area. Harper Turns One

Celebrating one year old is so very different than most birthdays and truly is a milestone that should be captured. The first year of growth not only shows how much they have developed into little people, but also boggles the mind at how their personalities really begin to shine. From sleeping sweetie pie to a little sassy and a lot of curiosity, Harper made the world her playground during our shoot. Talk about the perfect little model from birth! The natural light from an outdoor shoot gave such a pretty sun glazed look to these photos. There are certainly some great parts about being a summer baby here in Colorado. Miss Harper is the essence of summer with wild flowers and lush greens matching her adorable purple outfit.

Nursing Moments

More special moments were still to come after a few outfit changes, Harper showed us more of that sass during our nursing session. One of her favorite things to do is give mom her foot while she nurses, kicking it about as mom kisses it and gives her that one on one love she has grown up with. It’s that beautifully unique relationship that makes breastfeeding photography so special.

Happy birthday Harper, don’t grow up too fast!

Bringhurst Family – Smiling Faces of the American Dream

As a newborn photographer, I have found my love, my passion, my niche. It’s a rare experience when I choose to venture a bit outside of my typical ever so itty bitty newborn clients to do family sessions (check out other Kahva Families in my Family Gallery.) As a matter of fact, part of the Kahva difference is that I exclusively shoot newborns and my milestone and family sessions are generally limited to returning Kahva clients and extra special families. The Bringhurst family certainly fit the bill as an extra special family. They are all so full of hard work, dedication, adventure, and exuding all that love truly means in its purest form.

Not only do they have an absolutely gorgeous family inside and out, they also are the proud owners of a beautiful ranch and family owned business, Bringhurst Cattle, that served as the backdrop for this session.  I personally have a dream of owning some acreage and living off the land so I felt great appreciation for the home they’ve created. Such peaceful tranquility can be found when you own your own little piece of Colorado heaven that’s untouched by the busy world.

Absolutely magical moments were captured as the sun set on  the beautiful countryside. They were so fun, each  with their own personality that brought the session to life. From horses to mountain bikes, creatures and cattle, these little explorers gave me lots of different shots to capture what makes them unique. I couldn’t help but love how playful they were while certainly comfortable in their element.  Way to go mom and dad, you are have raising some exceptional children who will certainly always know the meaning of family! Talk about capturing the all American dream! I could say a thousand more wonderful things about this family, but perhaps I should let the photos speak for themselves.

Brotherly Love

My studio was filled with brotherly love recently as I was joined by the wonderful Mr. Hudson and newly appointed Big Brother Brody. They were incredibly well behaved and you could immediately tell how much he loved his new brother.  Baby boy slept nearly the entire session before waking with wide eyes and gummy grins that matched the sweet demeanor of his entire family.

Wrapping him up couldn’t even contain all the baby squish on his adorable chunky thighs. I also could hardly contain my own squeals in all of his cuteness! Hudson made the perfect teddy bear as he sneaked in a few smiles during his sweet slumber.

Session Reveal

The session reveal was most memorable and truly tugged at my heart strings. It isn’t every session that I get to have so many family members present, so the pressure was on just a bit. Mom, Dad, Grandma and even Auntie joined via Facetime to see what we had been able to capture of his first weeks. This session was a unique gift from Hudson’s Aunt. When we called her to play the slideshow of his session, she started to tear up, which of course made US all cry too LOL! It really was one of the sweetest things I’ve seen in a while. It is truly amazing how capturing a new life also can capture the entire love a family shares, even from a distance.

Sweet Scarlett

Sweet Scarlett and her proud older brother made this session magical. The sparkle in her eyes did not disappoint. She only woke for a few moments to shine, wiggle, and coo. Proudly showing off her favorite team, Scarlett might just be the New Orleans Saint’s lucky addition to take them all the way!

Who dat Sweet Baby Girl?

Don’t let the black and gold of the Saint’s fool you though, this session was all girl! It was a pink love affair from the start in the Kahva Photography Newborn Studio.  Scarlett’s sweet pouty baby lips and newborn skin glowed. If only we could all have such flawless complexions!
